The American Chemical Society began the publication of chemical research with the Journal of the American Chemical Society in 1879 containing the proceedings of an ACS Meeting held earlier that same year. Over 100 years of publication, ACS counts among its authors and editors nearly 200 Nobel Prize Winners, including Linus Pauling, Irving Langmuir, Hermann Staudinger, EJ Corey, Steven Chu, and Selman A. Waksman.
ACS now publishes more than 40 peer-reviewed journals, C&EN, the ACS Symposium Series Online, and books. ACS Publications can be relied upon to deliver high editorial and peer review standards, broad reach and dissemination, rapid publication, cutting-edge chemistry, and high-quality research.
As one of the first publishers to post online editions of its journal content, starting with The Journal of Physical Chemistry in 1996, ACS has always been on the cutting edge in the publication of peer-reviewed research. The first ASAP articles were posted in 1998, and the first manuscript submissions were accepted online in 1999.
